Apogee U8300 (KAF8300) Dark Signal and Dark Shot noise versus Temperature for various exposure times

click for report

while this data was collected from an Apogee U8300, the data is equally representative of the KAF8300 as used in a camera from any manufacturer

The data was collected by taking 300 second exposures at temperatures ranging from +15C to -50C in 5C increments.

The offset was measured and subtracted from the average value measured in a 50 x 50 pixel selection box

The remaining raw signal in DN was converted to electrons using the measured value of the Kadc (0.5 e-/DN). The dark shot noise was computed by taking the square root of the measured average value and was plotted versus inverse Kelvins.
